Terms of Service

The service

MealVault is a personal food-journal application provided as-is, on a best-effort basis. It is operated by Zack Barett as a personal project, not a commercial enterprise. The service may have downtime; data may, in extreme cases, be lost. Treat MealVault as a convenience, not as a system of record for anything you cannot afford to lose.

Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for the security of your password. Pick a strong one, do not share it, and let us know if you suspect your account has been compromised.
• You may not use the service to harass, defame, or harm others. The application is not a public platform -- there is no follower system, public feed, or user-to-user content discovery -- but if you misuse it (e.g. attack the API, attempt to scrape another household's data) your account may be terminated.
• You may delete your account at any time. See the deletion page for instructions.

Your content

The visit notes, photos, and ratings you create remain yours. By using the service you grant MealVault a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content back to you (and to other members of your household if you have configured a shared family). This license ends when your account is deleted.

AI-generated summaries are derived from your content but should not be treated as authoritative -- the underlying models can hallucinate details. Use your own judgement before relying on a summary for anything that matters.

Third-party services

MealVault sends portions of your content to Anthropic, OpenAI, Resend, Render, Neon, and Cloudflare to function. Each of those providers has its own terms. See the privacy policy for details.

Pricing

MealVault offers a free tier with usage limits and a paid Plus tier. Pricing, limits, and tier features are described inside the app. Subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play and follow their respective billing rules (auto-renewal, refund policy, family sharing).

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, attempt to compromise its security, or violate these terms. We will email the address on file before doing so, except in cases where immediate action is required to protect the service or other users.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. MealVault and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, that may result from use of the service.

Changes

These terms may change. The "Last updated" date will reflect the most recent revision; material changes will be announced in-app.
